It’s up to you when (or if) you announce you intend to sell your business. Business owners have solid reasons to wait to share this information.
The business brokers at Harvest Business Advisors understand completely the importance of confidentiality for business sellers. Every part of our selling process – meetings, marketing, screening possible buyers, financial disclosures – puts the confidentiality of your business (and you) first and foremost.
This short video with the Harvest Business Advisors business brokers address their approach to confidential business matters:
Here are some of the standard ways our team protects your identity:
a) we insist upon detailed financial information from prospective buyers and a signed Non-Disclosure Agreement in addition to a phone interview to be certain the buyer is truly interested and financially solid before revealing any information
b) we never refer to your business by name in any public facing documents (and most internal documents). Your business is assigned a reference ID that does not reveal or hint at your name or your business name
c) we are intentionally vague about location “Mid-Atlantic”. “DC-Area”, “Northern Virginia”
d) we use stock photos in all of our public facing materials – not the actual business photos
As you prepare to sell your business, you can count on our utmost discretion and solid advice on how/when/if to reveal the pending sale.
